Fishing Fun!!

I know you have all been waiting to see who caught the biggest one last weekend. Well, from this first picture, you may be thinking Ben. Look at the size of that fish. It's huge!! We call those fish footballs. But I'm afraid to say that you are wrong if you thought Ben.

I'm not actually sure who's fish that Zac is holding here. It may be his catch but it's still not the winner (even if it is as big as him!).

Here's Jacob...did he win? Let's take a look at his catch...

Although he caught a beautiful fish....Just look at it's shape and form. I would have to say that if we were judging on looks alone he may be the winner but with fishing it's all about the size. So I'm sorry to say that no, it wasn't Jacob this time.

So now we are to Luke. Look how in this picture he's got perfect form in his "reeling" abilities. This boy is a natural when it comes to outdoor activities. He makes his Grandpa proud. I think he was a born fisherman. But we're not here to talk about his reeling abilities, we're here to talk about his catching abilities......

Look at this size of this guy!!

Yes, if you picked Luke (which non of you actually said him) then you picked the winner. Grandpa said that it was probably at 12 pounder!! I don't know how long is was but you can tell from the picture above that it came up to his chest. It's in our freezer right now waiting to be eaten. I will BBQ it soon. I just have to figure out a good way to cook it, I'm open to suggestions from all you cooks out there.

OK, so I figured that I could tell you the story behind the "big catch" but it's never as good coming from someone who wasn't even there. So here, from the fisherman himself....

After a long afternoon on the boat you have to go throw some rocks to finish off the day.

They had so much fun that day!!

Thanks Grandpa for taking us fishing on your new boat!

Is it going to stay?

It is a beautiful day here today in the Inland Northwest!!!
Look at all those kids. Do they really all belong to me??
My kids have been outside most of the day. After lunch I decided to take Sarah out too. I don't think she's ever been on the swing before (she was too young last summer) and she absolutely LOVED it.

Unfortunately the weatherman calls for rain the rest of the week. I guess we better soak up the sun while we can.
**Coming soon.....Fishing pictures!! Who caught the biggest between Grandpa (the fisherman), Ben, Jacob, Luke and Zac?? See if you can guess....I will post pictures and tell you the winner soon.

And the mug goes to...

Congratulations.....Erica G!!!! I will be contacting her through her email and then I will give her a week to respond. If I don't hear back from her then I will draw a new winner.

Through a very random drawing including all four of my kids and their little hands we drew our winner. They have fun helping and I promise is was extremely random. Sarah actually drew the final number with a big, one tooth (that you can't really even see) smile.

Thanks to all of you who participated in this fun blog carnival. It was so much fun and I spent way too much time in front of my computer. I still haven't won anything yet but I'm still hoping that I may :)

The next giveaway is in July. I am planning in participating again.

Have a great week!!!

Fun in the Sun (while it lasted)

First, if you haven't seen or entered my blog giveaway, go check it out here. It's a great prize and you could be the winner!!

A couple of weekends ago, when it felt like spring was coming, we got the jumpy castle out for the kids. Notice the shorts?? It was close to 80 degrees that day!!

When we get the castle out, we usually get more kids too :) Several of the neighbor kids showed up not long after we got it all set up. It was quite the party.

Sarah really wanted in on the fun. She seemed to be content with just one of the balls from the ball pit. I'm sure that won't last though.

I will end this post with a video. You can really hear the kids in the background and tell that they are having a blast.

My Giveaway...you don't want to miss it!!

I have spent the last couple of days look at hundreds, yes hundreds of blog giveaways! So I decided that I should probably participate and do my own giveaway. I've never done anything like this before so I hope I do it right. All that you need to do to win is post a comment for me and let me know you stopped by. It can be as short or as long as you like. The contest will close on Friday the 25th and I will randomly choose a winner sometime over the weekend. Make sure that I can get a hold of you someway, either leave an email address or have a link to your blog. You don't have to be a blogger to enter either. I'm sorry to do this but I also must limit entries to the US only.

So, now you are wondering what I am giving away? Well I have a big collection of Starbucks coffee mugs (it may be an addiction) so I thought I would help you start one or add to the one you already have going. I love the one that I picked out to give away, it will be hard to part with it. Good Luck to all of you!
After you leave your comment make sure you stop by here to see all the other cool stuff that's out there to win. It'll take some time but it's fun and worth it.

Can it really be??

Is it true...my first born is 6 today??

Is it true...my first born is 6 today?? It's really unbelievable to me that he is 6 years old. I don't feel old enough to have a 6 year old!! Yes, it's true, Jacob turned 6 today and man alive was he ever pumped about it. He woke up early and had a huge grin on his face. We went to his class and took cup cakes (they couldn't be homemade so they were Hostess cupcakes, didn't want you all to think that I was slacking!) and fun little baggies for all of his friends. It was great! In the video at the end Jacob will tell you what we are doing tonight. That's also why he was so excited this morning before he left for school.

I love having a girl!!!

I have been waiting for a long time, since she was born actually, to be able to put pig tails on this girl. I knew the time was getting close and then today I DID IT!! Doesn't she just look so cute and girly?? (this is where you say "yes she does!!") I'm afraid this little sister won't go many days without having her hair "fixed" in some way or another. That's what she get for having three older brothers!! :) Okay that's enough of me talking about my baby girl for now. Have a great day!!

By the way, have you all stopped by to see Becky to see if she's having Monster Truck or Cutie Pie? It's pretty exciting!!

The winner?

So, I wasn't very clear about the winner. I should have said more about it. I know that it looks like Jacob was the winner from the pile but that's not the case. Zac actually got more cut off. It's just hard to tell because it's lighter in color and a little more fine. I put a piece of hair in my hand so you could see how long it actually was. Sorry for the confusion. :)

The Abshire's Barber Shop

We decided that the boys needed hair cuts this weekend and we've been taking them to have it done but figured with summer coming we would give them "summer" cuts. I told them we would have a competition to see who had the most hair cut off. That's why the "hair" pictures.

And the winner is....
This boy had so much hair. It was kind of bitter-sweet cutting it all off. I think he's got the best hair but it was time for a change. I just kept telling myself that it will grow back if I don't like it. I do like it, he looks more grown-up.

And last but not least......
Just kidding....I won't cut this ones hair for a really long long long time.

My Boys...Dennis the Menace(s)???

Luke was the first to notice that Mr. Wilson (aka Mr. Mike, our neighbor) was home today working in his garage. I don't think 5 minutes went by between "can I got see Mr. Mike?", "Can I go out now?", "I won't bug Mr. Mike.", and on and on it went. Finally after lunch I told him and Jacob that they could go out but under strict orders not to get in the way. Pretty soon I see that they are over there "watching". I had to make sure that they weren't in the way and decided that I should catch the moment on camera. Hopefully he will send them home if they are bugging him but I can't help but think that my boys are going to be known around our neighborhood as the Dennis the Menaces!!

I recommend....

My sister-in-law Becky is hosting a book blog carnival on her blog today. I've never participated in anything like this before but I'm going to try this one for sure.

So what I am recommending is a three book series called the Spa Girls.

These books fall under the "chick-lit" category. I've read a lot of books and this is the first time that I had actually read a "chick-lit". I enjoyed them. I was looking for something light and fun to read and these are what I ended up with. I hope you enjoy!!

Don't forget to stop by Becky's Blog and see what other books are on the list and add one of your own too!!

Happy Reading!!
