Lukey turns 7!!

I know that I say this every year but seriously?!?! He's really 7 this year?! I don't know why I can't understand that my life is screaming by way too fast and there's nothing I can do about it so I might as well just get used to it.
The day after Christmas (Luke's big day) started off with Uncle Chad and Aunt Crystal coming over to the house around 7:30 and giving Luke birthday card telling him that Uncle Chad was going to take him to the ski hill and teach him how to snowboard. Luke was so excited - not only did he get to spend the whole day with his Uncle but he was also going to learn how to ride a board.

When they got home he had just enough time to take a shower and get cleaned up and head to the bowling ally, because that's the tradition. Luke ALWAYS goes bowling with his cousins, aunts and uncles, brothers, sister and grandparents. He looks forward to it every year and even though he was tired from the day at the hill he still bowled better then me!!

Don't know if this was after his strike or one of his spares but it must have been great!!

After bowling we went to pizza then up to Mamaw and Papa's for presents......

....and ice cream cake!!!

It was a wonderful day filled with all kinds of fun and family!!!

He also got to have a friend party this year a couple of weeks after his real birthday. I will have to do another blog post about that a different day.

Today Sarah learned....

...that when you don't feel like fixing your hair you put a hat on!!

"Mommy, take one of me making a mad face"
"Now a sad face"
Even making a mad and sad face she's pretty cute wouldn't you say? I realized that I should have taken a picture of us together because I was also wearing a hat today, like many other days in my past. Now, I wonder how often she will want to wear hats or if she will start to comment about me wearing hats so much. Ah well, at least they make hats stylish and fashionable these days huh?

The ant farm

I'm not sure if you know this or not but Zachary is my "bug" guy. In the summer time he is always outside looking for ants, caterpillars, rolly polly bugs and whatever else he can fine that crawls. Last year for his birthday we got him a bug carnival thing and he had so much fun finding different things to put in it and watch them crawl around. Well, for Christmas he got an ant farm from Grandma and Grandpa. Once we got home daddy helped him get it all put together. We had to send away for the ants and Zac is still patiently waiting for them to arrive. I hope that they come soon. He has the empty ant farm all set up and ready for the ants to arrive. Here a just a couple of pictures that I took while Daddy was helping him get it all ready.

I will post pictures when they actually come. Maybe I will even take a video of Zac puting them in the new home...if I remember!

I know that I haven't done any of the blog that I said were up and coming but I will. They are going to be just a bit bigger so they will take me a bit longer to put together.

Have a great Monday!

"Curly Sarah"

When I was a little girl I remember my mom using little pink foam curlers in my hair. I am not sure if she ever put them in all of my hair or just in my little pigtails to make ringlets but I do remember them well. I thought about them a few months ago and decided that I should find some for Sarah and see how her hair curled. I found some a Walmart for pretty cheap and they have been so fun. Her hair curls so well for being so fine. I have to put them in right after she gets out of the bath and I put some mousse in it before I start curling but wait 'til you see the end result....the curls last all day long too!!

I know you can't see the curls really in this first picture but I had to post it just so you could see her posing for the camera. Look at that stance!!

Pretty cute huh? I know that I'm a bit biased but I have to say that she is one cute little girl!!

Today is Friday and we have a HUGE weekend so I'm not sure I'll get back to the blog again before the weekend is over but you never know...

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Three in school!!

Today I have thought a lot about how I am going to be jumping back into the blog world and I'm afraid that I have had no bright ideas. One of my good friends said that I shouldn't try to "get caught up" but just start from here. That's what I will probably be doing and I'm sure there will be a lot of jumping around. For tonight though I am going back several months to a day that my life got way quieter for a good part of the day. This was taken on the boys' first day of school. Jacob is in 3rd grade this year, Luke in 1st and Zachary in Kindergarten. Jacob is having a very good year so far. He loves his teacher and I am so happy about that. Luke LOVES being in school all day. He adjusted to full time so well and loves all the recess. Zac is going 1/2 days, in the afternoons and is always so happy to get on the bus and see all of his friends.

I also figured that I should add a picture of Sarah to this post as well. This was taken over the 4th of July so it's a few months old. She's changed a lot since then and grown up quite a bit. I think that she is enjoying her time alone in the afternoon. Sometimes we go shopping, sometimes we go to lunch with Daddy, sometimes we go work in the boys' classrooms but most of the time we just come home and she has the whole house and ALL of the toys to herself, not to mention she can watch Princesses or Tinkerbell instead of Starwars or Transformers.

Some of my up and coming blogs will be Christmas, Luke's 7th birthday, our new found (or returning) love of skiing/snowboarding and many more.....stick with me friends.

Jumping back in....

I am not real sure if I have any followers anymore but I am going to try and get back to blogging again. I thought maybe if I changed the picture and the background it would give me a bit of motivation.

I am so behind and not real sure where to start. We have had several birthdays, holidays, camping trips, sporting events and lots of big things happen in our lives since the last time I shared anything with you all so I need to get it all straight in my head and figure out where to start then I will hopefully be able to get everyone caught of up the wild and crazy life of the Abshires.

If you are still checking in every once in a while I want to say I'm sorry for being gone so long. I will try to make it up to you in the next few weeks.

Stay tuned....

Easter weekend

This year for Easter we headed to Omak to spend it with our family. The kids and I headed over on Thursday morning and Ben followed on Friday afternoon. He was originally going to ride over with the Scott and Kimberly but they ended up getting the flu and couldn’t make the trip so he headed over on his own. We had such a fun time! On Saturday morning we took the kids to the community egg hunt and they got lot’s of little prizes and had a blast. I ended up getting sick on Saturday afternoon and didn’t do much the rest of the day. I tried to help color the eggs but that’s didn’t go so well. Then Sunday morning we got up and went to a church breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa and went to their Easter service. After that we headed up to Papa and Mamaw’s and eat a huge, wonderful meal at the winery. Everyone was there, it was so great to spend it will ALL of the family (that was in Omak). The unfortunate part about Sunday was that Ben got the flu that I had the day before. So he didn’t get even one bite of the lamb, ham, deviled eggs or anything else that we had to eat. The kids and I actually came back home on Sunday night but left Ben there to sleep off the flu and he headed back on Monday. Other then being sick part of the time we had a great Easter and felt so blessed to be with so much family! Here’s just a few of the pictures that we got. I have to say…I’ve got the cutest kids on the planet!!! I know you might disagree but that’s ok, I can still think it.

IMG_9105 IMG_9113 Here the kids are hunting for the eggs they colored the night before and a few that Mamaw stuffed with candy! It was a super fun hunt and there were a ton of very good hiding places. IMG_9122 IMG_9126 IMG_9131 Here are some of the egg coloring. They always have so much fun making the white eggs turn color. Sarah was the most patient of them all…she let hers get really pretty and dark. Real quick side track – do you notice that Sarah’s hair is a bit shorter? She got a haircut on Saturday afternoon. Mamaw has a friend who is going to open up a salon in Omak just for kids and she said that she would cut Sarah’s hair. It turned out super cute. I didn’t actually have my camera but Aunt Crystal took lots of picture and I will try to post those soon. Ok, now you can go back to looking at the boys coloring their eggs. We are still eating chocolate bunnies and lots of other candies from that weekend but I guess that just comes with the territory!
